I’m Sadiah Qureshi. I’m a historian of race, science and empire. This blog gives me a chance to reflect on my personal experiences of being a historian. I’ve written a book about displayed peoples and published various articles on race, science and empire.

I tweet as @SadiahQureshi. I’m currently writing a book on the history of extinction.

My best friend nicknamed me Qualia at university so Qualia’s Qualms was the natural choice for my blog’s name. Qualia (singular ‘quale’) are the qualities or properties perceived or experienced by a person in everyday life, from the warmth of the sun on the skin to the pleasure of seeing a stunning shade of turquoise.
